Although it’s not necessary to complete Part 1 before starting Part 2, we recommend your child feels confident with most of the skills in Part 1. You can check their readiness by asking:
Do they have sound awareness? For example, with the English word “sunflower”, can they identify the two words “sun” and “flower”? Can they tell which sound the word begins with? Do they know the letter sound at the beginning of “sunflower”?
Can they recognise both upper- and lowercase letters and their most common sounds?
