While your child can start Part 3 without completing Parts 1 and 2, we recommend ensuring they feel confident in many of the skills from Parts 1 and 2 before beginning Part 3. Here are some signs they might be ready:
Have they developed what’s known as 'automaticity' (the ability to quickly and accurately read words)? Are they reading faster than they did at the start of Part 2?
Can they accurately answer some of the reading comprehension questions at the end of Part 2’s books – and summarise the who, what, when, where and why of what they’ve read?
